THE JOURNEY
For more than a thousand years, millions of people left their homes to travel hundreds of kilometres towards Santiago de Compostela. But the Camino is not only a spiritual pilgrimage — it is the history of the building of Europe. Burgos, León, Astorga, Ponferrada: every city along the route was built, enriched and transformed by the flow of pilgrims. This expedition travels through the historic cities of the French Way from the perspective of history, architecture and European cultural identity.
